SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Working in Special Education at many different levels, teaching overseas, and negotiating teacher
contracts have given me a diverse background. I possess strong human relations skills and have the
ability to work well in high pressure situations. I am currently consulting with a district to implement a
new teacher evaluation system here in Illinois, based on the Danielson Framework, for a variety of special
education positions.
My most recent nine-year career as the Director of the Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative has
provided me with the ultimate Special Education administrative experience. I have enjoyed working with a
vast number of children, parents, teachers, counselors, deans, administrators and special educators. The
experience has afforded me the opportunity to develop skills in the following areas:
• Administration of Special Ed programs
• Supervision
• Curriculum Based Assessments
• Allocation of Related Services
• Private Placements
• Due Process/Conflict Mediation
• Team Functioning
• Home/Hospital programs
• Student Teaching and Clinical
Experiences
• Transition Plans/Voc Services
• Extended Year Programs (Summer
